Workshops
The Medical Education Unit provides a number of professional development opportunities for those involved in medical education.
The aim of our workshops and seminars is to provide those involved in medical education with the skills they require for their specific roles, to improve their experience as educators as well as their students’ learning experiences.
Workshops and seminars cover various aspects of medical education, including training for specific teaching approaches such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL), more generic skills such as small group teaching skills, and the creation of assessment materials such as MCQ questions. Most of the sessions are held at the Medical Education Unit in the Medical Building in Parkville, with others – for example, sessions for teaching clinicians – held at clinical locations.
Whilst these professional development sessions have been designed for University of Melbourne medical teaching staff, many are open to other medical and health professionals. The Medical Education Unit also conducts specialised workshops for other institutions on request.
