Medical Course Committee
Medical Course Committee (MCC) will be the peak decision making committee for the new curriculum. In this role the MCC will review, after appropriate input from relevant working groups, sub-committees and the Medical Education Unit (MEU), all course material and provide approval prior to any documentation proceeding to the AMC or other University committees.
Curriculum Sub-Committees
The division of the new curriculum into 4 distinct Phases allows a MCC sub-committee to take responsibility for each one, ensuring that each Phase articulates neatly with its immediate neighbours and that assessments are appropriately aligned. The sub-committees will communicate via the MCC to ensure that prior student learning is well built upon and that needless repetition is minimised. With evaluation as a core task of each Phase’s sub-committee, quality can be maintained and improved within each phase on a continuous basis.
Working Groups
In the development stage of the new course, working groups will have prime responsibility:
- To determine the pedagogical styles applied to their Phase
- To develop a detailed curriculum, assessment and evaluation document for their Phase
- To develop course materials for their Phase
- To examine the current course material and determine what can be adapted for the new MD course
- To determine and list content better delivered in earlier or subsequent Phases of the MD course
