Dr Kathryn Hill

Kathryn joined the International Student Support Program in August, 2007. Before then she spent 15 years as a Research Fellow at the Language Testing Research Centre (including several years at the Australian Council for Educational Research) where she was involved in an extensive range of funded research projects. During that time she also taught postgraduate courses in applied linguistics at the university.

She is a regular presenter at local and international conferences and has numerous publications, including an article which won the International Language Testing Association (ILTA) best paper in the field of language testing in 2004. Kathryn aims to enhance the learning experiences of international students in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences through embedded programs that develop students’ academic and professional English. Her teaching focus is medical and physiotherapy students during their clinical placements.

Kathryn’s research interests include language testing and language program evaluation and Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP), including English for health professionals.
