Dr Robyn Woodward-Kron
After completing her PhD, Robyn taught introductory linguistics and discourse analysis in Canada. She has extensive English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching experience in workplace and academic settings. Robyn has worked as a consultant for a number of universities developing English for academic purposes materials. She is co-author of the prize winning CD-ROM Academic writing: A language based approach. As coordinator of the CCLD, Robyn aims to enhance the learning experiences of international students in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences through embedded programs that develop students’ academic and professional English. Her teaching focus is graduate students in the Schools of Population Health and Physiotherapy. Robyn and the CCLD have recently completed a commercially available DVD-ROM “I’m feeling a bit crook: Understanding and managing clinical communication in Australia".
Her research interests are learning through writing, intercultural clinical communication, genre and pedagogic discourse. Robyn is currently investigating the role of language in collaborative learning contexts.
